Identity
Vivid Projects

Vivid Projects was established in 2013 to explore live and media arts from their new Birmingham warehouse space. The curatorial team were previously at VIVID – sadly forced to close in 2012 due to funding cuts – an organisation which can trace its roots back to Birmingham Centre for Media Arts in the 1990s, so they were keen to keep a sense of continuity, but equally needed to reflect the change in focus of the newer organisation. We dropped the narrow capital letters of VIVID’s previous identity using lowercase Futura instead, the typeface having featured heavily in previous VIVID print. Splitting up the name helped to resolve a certain awkwardness between the two words, and also made for a more memorable logotype.
